The University of Barishal (Bengali: বরিশাল বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public university located in Barishal, Bangladesh. Established in 2011, it is the 33rd public university in the country and serves as a center for higher education in the Barishal division.

The university began its academic activities on January 25, 2012, with an initial focus on six departments under four faculties: Arts, Science, Social Sciences, and Business Studies. Since then, it has expanded to include 25 academic departments across six faculties, offering both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.

With a sprawling campus of 50 acres situated beside the Kirtankhola River, the University of Barishal provides a serene environment conducive to learning and research. The campus is equipped with modern facilities including lecture halls, laboratories, a library with over 20,000 books, and recreational areas.

The medium of instruction at the university is primarily English, except for the Bangla department where Bangla is used. The university aims to promote critical thinking and research skills among students through its diverse academic programs.

In addition to academics, the University of Barishal encourages students to engage in extracurricular activities such as sports, cultural events, and community service initiatives. These activities help foster a sense of community and develop leadership skills among students.
